Armin van Buuren feat. Christian Burns - This Light Between Us (Official...

I would say, there's light between us. Keeps me breathing through the storm, my head above the crowd.

I never used to be a huge fan of Armin's work, but this song has forever swung me from the dark side! Take a moment to really listen to the lyrics ( sung by Christian Burns) Does that name sound familiar?? Well, to all of you English music heads out there, Burns was in British Pop Band, BBMAK!! Haha, I used to rock out to their stuff when I was a young 'un. These days, Christian is enjoying some major success with electronic legends like Benny Bennassi, Tiesto, BT, Allure, and Matt Darey!!!

On January 22nd Armin will grace Beirut with his AWESOME stage show "Armin Only"!!

Check out this track :)

Bruno Mars - Grenade [Official Music Video]

Never really been into Bruno Mars, but after my trip to Lebanon I have literally memorized all of his songs! THEY LOVE him over there! I really enjoyed this video, the colouring is beautiful and it's one of the better ones out there. That and his dragging a piano around.....that takes some dedication!

Check It Out :)

Tonye Aganaba & Soft Serve - Live @ Falconetti's TONIGHT

Oh Vancouver....why do you squirrel all your lovely music away?? It's been a good long while since a band really shook me up and got me listening, but the most recent to do so are a neat Vancouver band named Soft Serve ( yup, like the Ice Cream!) A friend of mine contacted me a couple of days ago, searching for an opener for this awesome band. I love the venue ( Falconetti's on the Drive) www.falconettis.com, so it wasn't a hard decision for me :) I took the gig!

I sat down to check out the band, and ended up stumbling onto their youtube channel ( ) MAN!!!!! These guys are goooood! It will be such a pleasure to open for them. As I stated earlier, its been a while since a new ( or new to me) band has blown me away....but the sweet simplicity of this feelgood band, makes me smile! I love Soft Serve.

Come check them out tonight at Falconetti's! I open for them at 9Pm, and they will be taking the stage soon after.

Make It Happen - The New Music Video!

Tonye Aganaba’s upcoming single and music video “Make it Happen” will be released on 11/08/2010 as part of a new campaign to help bring awareness to children's suffering in third world countries.

"Every child is born with the right to live, but not an equal chance"

Vancouver (PR WE July 30, 2010

Vancouver-based Zimbabwean/Nigerian soul singer-songwriter Tonye Aganaba has teamed up with Lebanese producer Wael Halabi Hakim to release a music video for Save the Children titled "Make It Happen". The project was inspired by the personal experiences both have had watching people suffer in their respective homelands. The video is an artistic conceptual story about two different worlds, their similarities, their differences and how we can help make change. The theme behind the video is children playing soccer, which is an international sport everyone around the world can relate to. The money raised by the music video will be donated to the “Every One” campaign, whose objective is to end children suffering from basic illnesses in third world countries. The single "Make it Happen" is produced by Tobias Schuch and can be found in all online major music outlets such as iTunes and Amazon starting August 11, 2010.

The artist Tonye Aganaba was born in London, England on October 24th 1985 to a Nigerian father and Zimbabwean mother. She recently opened for international artists like Talib Kweli and Sean Paul at some of the biggest venues around Vancouver like the Vogue theatre. It is said that every time she performs she creates a new shockwave to the Vancouver music scene. She also runs an organization called "The Living Society", which focuses on teaching underprivileged people the basic fundamentals of music and the positivity it can bring in your life. She is currently working on her debut album which is set for release later this fall. As Tonye was growing up, she visited developing countries in Africa and saw how children were suffering from illnesses and lack of basic needs. After that experience she Her mother runs a rape shelter in South Africa, which also played a role in evoking her need to help people. Working with Save the Children’s has always been a passion of the artist. She wrote the song “Make it Happen” after reading that “this year almost nine million children around the world could die from basic illnesses before their fifth birthday.” Being a mother of a 5 year old daughter, Tonye values all children and believes in the cause and making a difference. Every child is born with the right to live, but not an equal chance ("Every One" slogan). The goal behind the video is to create change and build an equal chance for the future of all children alike.

The producer and music director Wael Halabi Hakim was born in Beirut, Lebanon on November 28 1986. Growing up in a land witnessing conflict, wars and tragedies, Wael was determined to make the world a better place. At the age of 18, Wael opened an event production company with his partner called "The Sound of United Clubbers". They pioneered several forms of events which boosted the Lebanese economy. After attending university, he travelled to Vancouver to continue his education at the Vancouver Film School to adopt techniques that he can use to fulfill his passion.

The premiere of the video will be held at Studio 538 in downtown Vancouver on August 11, 2010 with an international release to all major online retail outlets on the same day. The production of the music video is: directed and edited by Sencer Yalcin, cinematography by Brendan Preston, casting by Bhadnet Kahsay, and visual effects by Ehab Kamal and Ana Mendez. Speechless - Pickled Beets (Album Sampler) ft. Wordsworth, Shade Sheist,...

It seems like forever ago that I drove up to the secluded house in Surrey that houses two of my favorite Vancouver music personalities.

Speechless and Atlin :)

Speechless AKA Aaron Hamblin www.speechlessbeats.com is a probably one of the most underrated producers in Vancouver. This guy is incredibly creative and makes beats that I find multi-dimensional and full of personality. THIS, my friends, is a rarity today :) Just look at what's on the radio...everything sounds EXACTLY the same. It's because of Aaron's commitment to the pursuit of GOOD music, that I jumped at the chance to work on his album!

I rolled up to his place totally excited because it was to be the first time that I'd actually MET these guys! After chilling, chatting and checking out YELAWOLF ( thanks for the knowledge Atlin, that guy is sick) We hit the studio! What ensued was MADNESS! The record is dropping in early september, and will BLOW your mind. Featuring performances by some of Van ( and it's Island) City's finest including...

Wordsworth, Shade Sheist, The Shottas,The Scale Breakers, Matt Brevner, Mark Deez, Tonye Aganaba, Attikus (Groundbreakers,) Luke DeVilliers (Giraffe Aftermath,) plus members of Jackie Valentine and more!

A featured component of Drawn 2010, this juried exhibition will showcase drawing as an innovative artistic discipline with a unique and vital role to play in contemporary cultural expression. At once a celebration of the medium’s diversity and an investigation into its underlying unities, The Drawing Room aims to take the pulse of current drawing practices in Canada, giving the public an opportunity to engage with the dynamic work and talent of artists from across the country.

The competition is open to Canadian artists of professional standing aged 18 years or older. Drawing will be interpreted broadly as any form of mark making. There is no limitation on style and technique. Innovative works encompassing a wide range of artistic practice are encouraged.

A jury panel made up of six distinguished members of the visual arts community will choose 50 works by 50 artists for inclusion in the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue. The clock stops ticking!

I find it absolutely hilarious that the Olympic Clock just all of a sudden stopped ticking on Monday night...I personally think it's foreshadowing! Too bad TIME itself didn't actually stop, I could really use some of that rare commodity right now!

Apparently the reason for the stoppage was a " major electrical upgrade" within the downtown Vancouver core!

TANTRA FITNESS

To those of you who dont actually understand what tantra is, let me start by saying that it is NOT SEX! According to the beautiful ladies at TANTRA FITNESS ( Vancouver/Langley/UBC)... They teach classes like " Pole Dancing, Exotic Dance, Ball Fit and many more! Check out the website http://tantrafitness.com/

"Tantra is actually an upwardly motivating energy within ourselves. Harnessing this energy will help us discover parts of ourselves that have remained asleep or have been repressed. We can learn to use this energy for pleasure, self confidence, new awareness and to discover our sensual self. Tapping into this energy can help a person to enjoy life to the fullest, do away with guilt or fear, and break down self imposed or limiting boundaries. We become empowered, more fulfilled, and more perfect.*" - Excerpt taken from the Tantra Fitness website.

This gorgeous studio represents everything that I stand for! They do their best to encourage women to gain confidence and improve themselves! Most importantly they encourage women to encourage and take hold of their own sexuality! I LOVE IT! I had the pleasure of shooting a music video with one of the beautiful instructors (Elena) and was absolutely astounded by her talent!!! She is one strong chick with amazing skill!!! I encourage you to take a class there, I know I will!!!!
